India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the fifth Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development ahead of Day 2 of the match at The Oval in London. Bumrah, who had featured in three of the four matches so far in the series, is not part of the playing XI and will not take further part in the tour.
It was communicated before the series began that the fast-bowler would only play a maximum of three Tests to avoid chances of an injury. In a statement released on Friday, the BCCI said, "Mr Jasprit Bumrah has been released from India’s squad for the fifth Test of the series against England. The fifth and final Test of the series is underway at Kennington Oval, London."
India are currently trailing 1-2 in the five-match series and have made multiple changes to their XI for the Oval Test. Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj were also left out. Dhruv Jurel, Karun Nair, Akash Deep, and Prasidh Krishna have come into the line-up as India look to square the series.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Impact in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
In the three matches he played during the series, Bumrah picked up 14 wickets to his name. His best came at Lord’s in the third Test, where he bagged 5/74 in the first innings. Earlier in the series, during the first Test at Headingley, Bumrah had also grabbed a five-wicket haul in the first innings.
The fourth Test at Old Trafford saw Bumrah play again but his pace was noticeably down. Operating mostly in the 130-135 kmph range, he lacked his usual sharpness. The management, aware of his workload and the upcoming assignments, decided to rest him for the final game of the series.
